ALBUM OF THE WEEK: Dying Fetus - Reign Supreme

If you are looking for some of the most unrelenting and violent death metal that anyone could ever come across, then "Reign Supreme," the seventh full-length album of highly famous trio Dying Fetus, is an album to look for. The musicianship alone is enough to bludgeon the faces of listeners to no end, with the deadly vocal gutturals and growls, brutal guitar riffs and melodies, and technical and devastating percussion galore. However, this is not the only reason why this album is so sickeningly enjoyable; it also comes down to the music itself. "Reign Supreme" features what the legendary trio has always been doing best; delivering some unkind death metal tracks. Every single track aims at trashing you across the room like a ragdoll, and it does their job incredibly well. From the powerful guitar solos to the rapid-fire blast beats, this album knows nothing about subtlety, and that's the beauty of it all. Oddly enough, there is not much dynamic, as there aren't many, if there are any to be considered as, quieter moments for the album to give the listener a break. However, what makes this record surpass that potential shortcoming is how ferocious and energetic it is in its attack, and the listener can't help but enjoy it all. Overall, if you're in search of some revolting brutal death metal, this is definitely for you.
