"Symbiosis," the second full-length album of Texan metalcore outfit A Bullet For Pretty Boy, certainly demonstrated change in sound for the band. Whereas previous works, including "Revision: Revise," where the blend of post-hardcore and metalcore was highly fierce and energized, this album has a bit of a calmer sound. This works in the band's favor, because it leads to some great structures and very memorable tunes. The sound is less wild here, but the album has just as much energy with how potent and gripping the breakdowns and melodies are, while staying packed into coherent and overall great tracks. Though a rather drastic change compared to the band's older and more ferocious sound, "Symbiosis" bears open arms for loyal fans and newcomers alike for its power and craft.
